New Category, New Moderators, New Contest
We welcome two more moderators to the site: Deyna, who's taken up the reigns of moderating the Yaoi/Yuri fics, and Lae, who's decided to be the Guideline moderator. As such, I revised submission/guidelines for uploading. They're pretty much the default ones that come with eFiction, with some additions based on things I've seen around the site.
As always, moderators are allowed to make news posts.
Now, for something really special-- there's a new category here at TONFA; the "Banner Contest Images" category. Yes, that means TONFA is holding a contest.
Here's the details: You take one of the banners from here, and make your own.
I've turned image uploads on, so you can upload your finished banners right to the site. Of course, you'll still have to link to them through a "story", but it's not that difficult.
All entries will be placed in Banner Contest Images.
Once we get a sufficient number of entries, I'll install the poll block, and make a poll for it. You, the readers, will decide which banners I make into a skin for TONFA.
Happy Photoshoping, guys!
Edit: Uh, yeah, apparently I'm an idiot, because I forgot that people might not be able to find the image uploading page. Which is amazing, considering it took me about three hours to figure out how to do it ^_;;
On the User Page, under "Edit Personal Information", is a "Manage Images" link. Click on that, and there'll be a link at the top of the page to "upload new image". eFiction currently only supports .JPG and .GIF images.
...you lot do realise you can change the images entirely, right? They just have to stay the same size. If you want to put Itachi in a banner the size of the Naruto one, feel free.

A Piratey Challenge
Yes, I have already seen Pirates of the Caribbean. I went to the midnight showing. It is awesome, and yet also very irritating. When they said it ended on a cliffhanger, they really meant it.So I decided to challenge you lot, before I head off to the convention. A Piratey Challenge.
Naruto Pirate AU, and/or fusion with PotC. Once upon a time I wrote one ((PotC/KH)), and now I want you to. Now for the fun stuff:
- Must contain at least one mention of the "Dead Man's Chest". Not nessecarily the same one in PotC2.
- The line "You're not making any sense, love" after someone tries to rephrase a sentence that makes no sense from the speaker. ((if this is unclear... and example would be that Sasuke says something that makes no sense. Sakura tries to clarify it. Sasuke tells her that she's making not making sense))
- At least one battle at sea. They're pirates, after all!
May contain, but doesn't have to:
- argument of which is better: Pirates or Ninja
- Creation of the Piraja, or Ninate. Whatever.
- The Kraken :)
Anything else is up to you. I've posted this to the challenges page, too. Have fun!

In correlation to the previous post... *drumroll*
Hi hi, this is the one of the new moderators, WaisetsuNingyou a.k.a Obscene Doll (which is what "waisetsu ningyou" means in English). I'll be the moderator for the General/Romance and General/X-Rated *^////^* sections. I'll be looking forward to reading your wonderful fan fictions (I'm a sucker for romance) and I'll do my best to keep everything organized! And yeah, if you look at my profile, there's nothing much to be found. I'm a mysterious person. But, if any of you are planning to go to Otakon this coming August, I might be there so you can un-mysterious me--or something like that. XD (More information on that in the near future!)
So, once again, I'm looking forward to being a moderator and I'll do my best for everyone dattebayo.
(Sorry, I just had to put that 'dattebayo' in there. ^^")

About those new categories...
In accordance with the plans I posted to TONFA-LJ, the categories have been reorganized to allow for greater ease of searching, when not using the search function. You can still read the plans there, and any further changes to TONFA will be posted there with a notice and link here. With the changing of how the categories are organized, I ask that you, the authors, check to make sure that your story is in the right category. You have until July 21, 2006 to do this, before the moderators and I get involved.
Yes, moderators. TONFA currently has only one moderator outside of me, but I'm happy to announce that WaisetsuNingyou volunteered to be the moderator for the General/Romance and General/X-Rated sections.
I'm waiting on a couple of people to respond to emails I've sent, but even if they still want a position as moderator, I'm going to need more. As it stands, I need someone to moderator the Boy Love/Romance ((Yaoi Couples/Yuri Couples)) and Boy Love/X-Rated sections. Some will also be needed to help me go through stories and make sure that they're following the guidelines for the site ((such as: if it's X-Rated the only section it's allowed in is X-Rated, even if it is General/Naruto-centric)). Any volunteers will recieve an email from me explaining what their duties will be, should they want to volunteer.
There will also be a few temporary moderator positions open, to help with those 564 Unsorted Romance stories. Depending on whether there's still a need for them once everything's been straightened out, they may be kept on as moderators for other sections.
I think I covered everything I'd meant to the refers to the site itself.
In other news, I will be out of town from the seventh through tenth; attending Animethon in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. I don't intend to bring my laptop, since it is an anime convention, and I would more than likely have to leave it in my hotel room. I'm paranoid, and refuse to do that. So I'll have no access to my email or to the site for that period.
Though if anyone here is going to Animethon and wants to meet with me, I'll be the Elena of the Turks, with the FF7 cosplay group. I may also be found in the company of the Kon cosplayer-- of course, if you see the giant teddy bear and not the blonde girl in a suit, and want to find me, just ask him to call Sammi. Or Elena, or Rock Lee, or Anko... he'll know you're looking for me :)

Naruto: Clash of Ninja
So, I played Naruto: Clash of Ninja for the very first time today. Gotta say... ow, my ears.Actually, I was just playing a demo at Best Buy, waiting for my brother to get off his phone with the yay/nay on whether he had enough cash for another controller. Still, I was wincing everytime Sasuke used his special attack. I mean... he didn't even name the attack or anything.
If I ever rent/buy it, I'll have to play it on mute. But other than that, I had a blast kicking Naruto's ass. Well, until my brother distracted me, and he totally thrashed Sasuke. XD

News of a Newsly Type
The ethernet cable on my family's computer needs to be replaced-- and won't be until the eighth. I'm impressed I was on long enough upload a few nessecary bits and pieces so I could download them onto my laptop. The connection comes and goes. It's irritating, mostly because none of the TONFA files are on my laptop.
But enough of my computer woes. See that nice shiny new bit in the welcome message? If you can't, don't worry. It's in japanese. Roughly ((because I'm not sure if I got my kanji right ^_;;)) it means "This homepage is English Only. I'm very sorry." Of course, you're welcome to post fanfiction in other languages if you want to!
Also, I've been considering getting moderators for TONFA, so we can go through the six hundred archived stories to make sure they're in the right directories. This means we'll probably have to fiddle around with the rules, categories, and whathaveyou.
Any volunteers?
EDIT: Further information regarding Moderators & TONFA changes, located here. Please read and respond.

Welcome, Welcome, Welcome
Well, TONFA's up at http://www.narutofic.org/ now. Next task: setting up http://www.narutofic.net/ to redirect here. Compared to some of the things I've done in the past, that shouldn't be difficult at all!Speaking of difficult things, a skin has returned. That's right, TONFA's very first skin, from way back in 2003, has been revived. Kakashi has returned to TONFA.
The layout features Young!Kakashi, and a nice purple and yellow combination. It may not be a favorite of some, but I'm fond of it.
There are three other half finished skins in the works, all of which I started during the server move. There wasn't much I could do while waiting for everything to upload, you know?

LADIES AND GENTLEMEN~
A big thanks to Jessie for the donation. And on that note... I have purchased the new server space. I actually paid for two years worth ((that's $190 USD)), and I'm just waiting on confirmation that everything's gone through.
You're welcome to still give donations, though, since there's that extra $105, but you've no obligation to do so, since it's already been paid for.
Once everything is set up, you'll be able to reach TONFA through http://www.narutofic.org/. I'll also be changing the nameserver information so that http://www.narutofic.net still works.
Thank you to everyone who has donated in the past few months, and here's to hoping everything gets up and running as soon as possible!

Thanks & Skins
A big thanks to Kristen! Only twenty more dollars to go!And on the note of the server move, no move would be complete without some new looks. So if there's a skin you really want to see, comment here, and we'll see what I can do.

In Closing... [re: Otafest]
Thank you, Sarah, for the donation~I do indeed have money left over from Otafest. There's sixty dollars in my pocket, actually, though that's all going to wind up going to paying off my debts. I also get paid on May 31, which will, as previously stated, get split between my debts and the price of a new server.
We're almost there, folks! If you want to donate and help us get set up this weekend, there's only $34 dollars left to go! Thank you all for your support, for your love of Naruto, whether you express it in fanart, fanfiction, or just reading our authors' beautiful pieces!

Server Move
So. This weekend is Otafest. One of two weekends that I spend splurging on merchandise every year.Whatever's left over after I've had my fill of keychains, pins, posters, models, pencil boards, and other assorted random junk, in addition to paying off my visa ((uh, wow. How the hell did I manage to get $200 worth of fabric in the last week? Damn the fact that I'm making costumes for annoying idiots who GO TO BEIJING without giving me their damn measurements. He better have brought me back something.)) will be put into the server move fund.
This means TONFA should be moved over to a new server by mid-June. Aren't we all happy?
Your donations are still very welcome, though :D

Today's downtime
Alright, so we experienced a bit of downtime this afternoon/evening. It was unexpect and, in fact, messed with some of the stuff I was actively working on when it went down. I was not a happy woman.Of course, I didn't know what was going on until after the fact because whatever happened not only took down TONFA, but the host, as well.
Copied and Pasted from my host:
Earlier this afternoon, there was a problem involving one of our filing systems which affected performance on a large part of our network. The problem has been handled and all major services have been restored, although performance may be a little slow for the next few hours as various things come back up to speed.
So if things are a bit slow, it's not your computer, it's the site. I'm sorry for any inconvience, but as you can see, there's not a whole lot I can do about it.

Now that the payment has cleared, I would like to thank Kristy for her donation. A whooping forty dollars! You have my eternal thanks!Edit: New skin is live; TONFA now has a Yakushi Kabuto skin. Kabuto really is everywhere.

Donation incentives a GO!
Alrightie, we'll be going with Naruto Keychains as donation incentives now. The winner will be able to choose any one of the keychains available on the offical Naruto website ((naruto.com)).And to Amara, who donated $9.00... thank you! You have no idea how good this made me feel ((especially since I have to go and write a Philosophy final exam in ten minutes.)) This made my day ♥
Edit: Thanks for the seven dollars, patricia! ♥

Donation Incentives?
Right, so, Artfix had a good idea. I might as well do like every other site out there that does donations and have a donation incentive.I'm willing to dip into my "Back-Up Funds for when Priest does something Monumentally Stupid" to purchase the incentive for ya'll. Just, uh, there's only fifty dollars left in there from my last stupid purchase, so it's not exactly going to be something really awesome like an iPod.
There's just one itty bitty problem. I don't know what any of you would want as an incentive to donate. So. Comment here, and we'll see what I can do, mmkay?

New Categories
Alright, I've been shuffling around categories, reorganising everything so that they make a bit more sense. This means that some of your stories got shifted when one category was deleted or moved. I may not have gotten them all back into the categories you wanted them in, so I ask that you double check to make sure your story is where it's supposed to be.Please note, that some of the categories have been renamed. "General" has become "Unsorted Fiction". "Smut" was moved from "Romance", to a top level category and is now called "X-Rated." The Romance category is now called "Romance and Relationships".
I've added some twenty new pairings directories-- I ask that you use them. If you have a story that fits into the new category, please remove it from the base category into the appropriate category. It makes it easier on your readers to just go through the pairings category they like, then trying to sift through twenty three pages of stories to find the pairing they like.
If there are any categories that you would like to see-- please comment here. I'll get them up ASAP. I know I've missed quite a few categories that are fairly popular, simply because I've been adding and removing so many, and I'm not sure what I've missed.
Edit - Wow! Aiso is our sixth hundredth member. Thank you everyone!

Full Explaination
A full explaination of the why a donation button is needed can be found at the LJ community.Specifically this post.
If you're having any serious problems with getting stories to show, feel free to post them to the LJ community until we get everything straightened out.
Thank you, and I apologize for any inconvenience.

Upgrade
Upgrading eFiction engine today. There will be some downtime, and I apologise for the inconvience.Edit: Upgrade complete. Due to some issues between my server host and the eFiction script, there may be some unavoidable troubles. I'm looking into getting a new server host, one that supports the CHMOD needed to host TONFA. My current server has changed it so that there is only one accepted permission as an over all for all applications and programs that run on their servers.
This, unfortunately, causes conflict with TONFA and the access of you, the writers and readers of Naruto Fanfiction.
I will be opening a paypal account specifically for donations to finance the move over to a better server. Hopefully, the move will be made soon, and we can get back to reading and posting fanfiction without all the problems that have come with my current server's changes.

Quick Note
If a story isn't appearing properly, but you can see the story/chapter links by the "printer friendly" symbol? Click it, you'll most likely be able to read your story that way. Still working on retrieving missing stories.by Priest on 24/02/06 - 08:24 am

Missing something?
If your story, or a chapter of your story, is missing, please notify me. I'm going to be making a post on the development boards, and I want an accurate count of who's stories are missing-- I also intend to check beforehand if the story is actually there, just not showing up, or if it's not even in the files section. Also, if you signed up over the last month or two, and have not received your password yet, please contact me with your username. I've changed the settings so that any new members can chose their own passwords, but for those of you who didn't get that chance, I'm willing to go in and manually retrieve your randomly generated password.
You can contact me through my profile ((username: admin))

NFA - Results
Results of the 2005 Naruto Fanfiction Awards are visible here. The LJ community is now open to anyone and everyone who wants to post something-- just remember that it should be Naruto related. This includes things other than fanfics-- such as fanart, scanlation updates, reccomendations, icons, website layouts, anything and everything you can think up, so long as it can be related to Naruto, is allowable.
2006 NFA will begin taking nominations in August. Hopefully, by then, we'll have a better system, and there won't be as many problems.

Site Problems
Okay, yes, I know there have been some problems recently with various parts of the site. I am working on it. However, you have to remember that I am in college and working. I have one day off a week-- thursdays. So it may be slow going. If you want a nearly-immediate response? Send me a message on Thursdays.DO NOT SEND MESSAGES ON WEEKENDS. It is unlikely I'll respond, since I work Saturdays and Sundays.
On the note of sending messages-- if your problem has something to do with logging in, or passwords, I need your username to be able to do anything. Without that, all I have is the email you contacted me with, and I am not hunting through almost 500 emails in the backend, when that might not even be the email you signed up with.
As a note, there is actually a character limit on how long your username is. Try to keep it around 20 characters. I, myself, didn't know this until I spent a great deal of time trying to fix a log in problem. Now you know.
And that's all for this somewhat grumpy 1:20AM address. I've got classes tomorrow, so I'm off to bed.

Oh hey, look. It's gone. Again. WTF?!
So, my secondary hard drive killed itself again. This is a trend that must stop. Maybe if the woman who owns the damn computer would get off her ass and purchase a new hard drive, then I wouldn't have this problem. C'est la vie, at least this time the majority of what I lost is recoverable from online sources. Except for rmy own fanfiction, unfortunately. And, you know, without the secondary hard drive, the computer runs frightfully slowly, and I'm terrified of opening photoshop with it like that. So, if you want a skin, just post a comment here asking for it, I'll put it on the list, and get to work once I don't have to fear the computer crashing and killing all my work. Again.
Sometimes, I hate my luck.

SasuNaru skin is live
Lae, Oni Butterfly, and Inuangel-- the Sasunaru skin you three requested is up and running. It's nothing explict, though, and could even be taken as a friendship type thing. It also has a lot of brown/orange to it. If you want something more explict, then I'm going to have to start contacting fanartists to see if I can use their art in layouts.
Otherwise, I'm off to start figuring out the next skin.
Edit: deathrosekitty -- yes, anyone can request a skin.

Question: Narutowiki
Is there a Narutowiki out there that I'm not able to find? If there isn't, would any of you like to help me set one up?I figure we could use it as a nice reference whenever someone's writing a fic and can't remember if something is fanon or canon. Or if it's been done a hundred thousand times before.
So just comment on this, or send a message through the contact button on the admin author profile. I want to see how many people would actually use something like this before I set out to make one.
