Chapter notes: Disclaimers(!): I don't own Naruto, though I do wish I did. Naruto belongs to Kishimoto Masashi. (Grr... >.>)

This came to me a couple of minutes ago (around Midnight), and I really just wanted to get it out. It isn't going to be much, since I don't have a complete idea for this, but I will be forming it once someone comes from behind me and hits me with a brick (a.k.a being knocked out).

I just hope those who read this do enjoy how much I do try putting into this (while being partially asleep).
Night had fallen over Konohagakure, and a light foggy mist slipped into the village from the north. Darkness ruled most of the area, save the occasional bedside lamp for those that had a hard time trying to fall asleep. A light breeze pushed the mist along, lightly pushing it toward the south, deeper into the sleeping village, towards the acadamy. No one was out in the village roads and streets, or should I say, no one except a slightly short youth, his spiky blonde hair making him stick out like a sore thumb against all of the darkness.

The short blonde continued a slow pace walk north on a tightly packed dirt road, his hands shove deep into the pockets of his bright orange shorts. His black shirt, which would usually be pulling against his skin, was stuck to his chest and back, heavy with his sweat. The blonde's bright blue eyes glared at the ground, as if he was trying to intimidate it into moving from beneath him. His steps were long, but were more forceful when he landed the front foot.

The blonde perked up at the feeling of him being watched, and slowly shut his eyes, trying to focus on where this feeling was coming from. He slowly started walking, slightly toward the left of his usual path toward a dank and dirty alley way. 'Masking your chakra won't work,' the blonde thought, smirking in his mind. He slowly stopped, feeling the chakra waves starting to dissipate, the holder starting to move away from him. He slowly opened his azure eyes, and looked around.

Nothing was different, everything was some tone of gray, the mist setting up an incredibly sad and calm scene. The blonde returned to the center of the packed earth path and started off on his slow, heavy pace, his hands still jammed in his pockets, his deep blue eyes focused down on the ground. A light breeze flowed in from the north again, causing the mist to chill slightly around the blonde's skin, making his heated body feel incredibly cool. He started running again, staying on the never ending dirt path, trying to get his adreniline running and his body heat to rise.

"Help me," a small quiet voice called from one of the alley's on the blonde's right. The blonde halted, and let his ears twitch, trying to locate where the call for help came from. He shut his eyes, and tryed scanning for a chakra source, but couldn't find any waves. He clenched his hands, preparing to bash in heads and cave in chests if the call was a trap. He slowly, though cautiously, approached where he felt the call came from, keeping himself in a guard.

"Please, help me, sir," the shy quiet voice called out again, still sounding far away from the blonde. The blonde winced his eyes shut again, trying harder to locate some source of chakra, and could only find dorment chakra waves coming from the houses. He tightened his fists, his sharp nails digging into his palms, drawing small trickles of blood. He slowly transition from a cautious walk to more of a stride, though keeping his guard up and aware. He felt the extremely light breeze starting to falter and die off.

The short blonde didn't hear the voice again, and started trembling slightly. 'Could I not help her?' he thought, his fists starting to unclench. He forced his eyes shut one more time, trying to locate any awake chakra forces, but still, to no avail, couldn't find any. He snorted loudly, and slowly tried calming his mind and clearing his thoughts, though the thought of not being able to rescue a poor girl continued nagging him. As his mind emptied all thoughts besides the thought of the girl, he could feel air vibrations coming from the north, slowly becoming more and more faint.

The blonde's eyes snapped open, and took off in a full charge in the direction of the pulsating waves, hoping to find the girl okay. His blue eye's stung slightly as he felt a small tear trickle down from the inside of his eye. He felt the urge to wipe it out and away from his eye, but couldn't bring himself to do it; and making sure he didn't, he brought his arms back, like a falcon folding it's wings in to cause less resistance in a dive. The loud patter of his feet hitting the packed dirt road set of series of smacks that echoed endlessly in the alleys to the left and right of him.

The short teen shut his eyes briefly, and felt the air pulsations becoming stronger and faster, and started noticing some chakra remnents in the air, though he couldn't distinguish if it was someone he knew or not. His arms remained perpendicular to his body, and enjoyed the feeling of the cool misty air running through his sweaty hair and against his arms and legs. Still, he was worried that the call from the girl still hadn't come for the past few minutes, and he started worrying again about the girl not being able to be saved.

"Please!" the sharp cry of the girl rang out from the north of the blonde, "Please help me, Naru-" His eyes widened as he didn't here the final syllable of his name sounding, and he took off to a reckless pace. His thoughts started scrambling and becoming meshed with one another, distorting the pulsations, making them hard to follow. But he couldn't care, he continued his reckless dart to the north, hoping to find the girl safe.

"Naruto! Please!" the cry shrieked, it echoing loudly off of the walls, "I need you, Na-" The blonde youth, apparently named Naruto, continued running, ignoring his feelings and thoughts, just hoping that he makes it to the shrieking girl on time. He started running, using his arms to steady his reckless pace. He calmed his thoughts as he ran, and started picking up a faint chakra source, with many remnants of chakra surrounding him; his mind was still unable to decide if he knew the people that were owners of the chakra though. The loud smacking sound of his feet against the moist, dirt road sounded loudly all around him, echoing off of everything it could.

"Naruto!!!" the girl shrieked loudly, causing the window's around Naruto to shatter into millions of pieces, and fall to the ground below, some landing on Naruto's black shirt, and slightly piercing his back. "Naru-!!" The cry echoed annoyingly in the alley's, like the sound of his running. His eye's were blurry because of the number of tears that he refused to let go, as well as the fact that the cold air was pressing against his face. Sweat ran down his face, arms, and legs from the continuous running. Naruto felt the chakra source, that owned the cry, starting to fade.

Naruto continued his running, and then noticed something odd: There was more than one chakra source fading, and all of them were in front of him. He slowed down as he felt himself getting close to a chakra source, and looked around. He clenched his fists, preparing to fight for his life if he had to, and slowly approached the source, which was hidden behind a number of crates and bins.

Oooohhh, a cliff (I think)! Well, there wasn't that much suspense in my eyes, and I'm not sure where I am going to have this lead, but I am pretty sure I will be able to get it to head where I want it to. Also, I will prolly be using some of the properly translated lyrics of "Hikari" (Not using "Simple and Clean") in the following chapter. ^.^
