Prologue
For as long as I remember, I was a street urchin. No: literally. I was born in a traveling caravan. We all, the members of the caravan, have sort of looked after each other. We were always on the move. Each night we would stop at a town. Dance, sing, preform, we did what we could. We would act for the money the crowds would throw. More than occasionally we would get very little. When that happened father, brother, and the others would pick steal a bit, enough to get by. We were gone by the morning. Mother would dance or tell fortunes with the other women of the caravan. Many of us would sing or do magic tricks. I sung with the others, but my best talent lay with my brother. The two of us were the best pickpockets in the caravan.
This was our life. This is our life. Forever, 'till the day I die. And even though we might see or hear, fly from or fight, lose or find challenges, we will always be us. Call us what you will. Gypsies, street rats, urchins, thieves, peasants, or tricksters. I love my life.
We had always stayed away from shinobi villages, all for good reasons. Our usual tricks didn't work on shinobi. Even for my brother and me, the petty thief can not out trick the assassin. Personally, I had never encountered such problem. Mainly because I had never met, or even seen for that matter, a ninja. They were things of rumor and lore for most of the children of the caravan. The other caravan children look up to me and my brother. We are the oldest children and the most skilled. So, of course we had never broken the rules set by our parents and the caravan. Never had we been temped nor swayed by the many lures of the nin. No, we wanted to distance ourselves as farthest away from those lures as possible. The best way to ignore the siren song is to not listen to it in the first place. If only we had learned that lesson the easy way.

Story notes: Note from Author: I have been trying my hand at all sorts of fanfiction for a while now. I dare say I have gotten pretty good at it. But I never imagined myself doing one of these. That is right, a songfic! 'Oh, a songfic' you say to yourselves. I only loosely based this around the song, using it as inspiration. I will try to update quickly and not abbandon this one. Thanks for reading! -Miss Fantasy Madeline
Disclaimer: I am a 13 year old girl. Therefore, I believe you all can use critical thinking to deduce I am not Kishimoto, and therefore do not own Naruto. I also do not own the song Gypsies Tramps and Thieves. Happy Chev?
Side Disclaimer: Does Kishimoto and Chev even write fanfiction? I think not. Why do we have to do these? Nay, I shall not question them.
