Sarah was a happy person. Stress-free, great job, and a nice house. To top that, a cool and supporting husband. Sarah thought she had a perfect life, until that happened.
It was a Wednesday, the “hump” day of the week. Work was great, she got a promotion, she had some good coffee. Of course, one would like to go home and scream out to the world, “I love my life!!!” in a situation like this. And so she planned to.
After work, Sarah was eager to get home. She wanted to tell her husband, Shira, about her day. (Shira isn’t his birth name, simply a nickname).
The subway ride seemed to take forever, and when she arrived at the stop, she skipped all the way home. The walk home was brighter than usual.
Her apartment was welcoming to see, but never was it this welcoming. She fumbled with her keys and managed to open the doors.
She called out, “I’m home~!!!” when she entered, but no response.
“Huh?”, she said out loud. Shira was usually home at this hour… Maybe he missed the subway, or is at a restaurant eating…
She dropped her bag and her keys and grabbed the phone. She dialed Shira’s cellphone number and entered his room.
She stopped. Stared.
On the ceiling was a wire. The extension cord one.
Where did it lead? In a knot and down.
In a loop.
Around a neck. Belonging to her husband.
