Chapter notes: Hi there! This came to me when i couldn't sleep and found myself clinging to a pillow in the morning. This is a bit sadder, but seriously with enough fluff to kill. You have been warned. With much love, A Vampires Butterfly ^.^
Another restless night.

The rain patters on the window lightly.

He listens to it to maybe help him sleep.

But of course it doesn’t work.

He hasn’t been able to sleep all week.

He knows why he can’t sleep.

It used to happen to him all the time as a kid.

But he had thought it had stopped.

But here it was again.

That need.

That want.

The craving to hold something.

He hated feeling like this.

It made him feel weak, but

He just needed something to hold onto.

When he was little he would cuddle a small beat up fox plushie that he had found in the trash one day.

But he was too old for that now.

He wasn’t supposed to want to cuddle something.

To have the need to hold something to him.

But he did.

So he blindly reached for his biggest pillow and held it to his chest tightly, wrapping his long legs around it as well.

But it wasn’t the same.

He wanted something alive.

Something warm.

Something that would breathe with him as he and them slept.

Something with a heartbeat that would rock him to sleep instead of the cold rain.

Something that would hold him back.

But all he had was a pillow.

A lumpy, cold pillow.

He nuzzled his face into the white material and sighed before finally falling,

Asleep.

Sasuke quietly opened the window of the dobe’s bedroom, slightly damp, rain drops sliding down his hair and bangs. He had been gone on a mission for a week now and he finally been able to return to his blond boyfriend.

Sasuke peered into the darkness, leaping into the room and closing the window after him. He quickly stripped out of his wet clothes and into his boxers. He quickly grabbed a towel from the bathroom and dried his hair some.

It had been a boring mission and all through it he had been thinking of Naruto. He wanted to wake the boy up, but didn’t have the heart. He looked down at his boyfriend and smirked. The idiot was clinging to a pillow as if it were his life line.

Sasuke removed the pillow gently, hearing a soft whimper emit from the blond because of it, and then laid down in the pillow’s place. Naruto immediately clung onto the damp Uchiha, legs entwining with pale ones, tanned arms wrapping around a slim waist, blond head nuzzling into Sasuke’s chest, ear placed right over the Uchiha’s heart, as if trying to listen to the calm beat. Sasuke held the dobe close and smiled softly before falling,

Asleep,

In the arms of his love, both clinging to each other to wait out the night, to stay with each other till mornings light.

Because pillows are never enough.
