::Author’s Note-
This is my first real attempt at this pairing, so CONSTRUCTIVE reviews are very welcome. If you feel the need to flame me or to tell me that I suck at life and should never write again, please use any ounce of restraint you possess and refrain from such behavior. This is only the first chapter, but I won’t continue if no one likes it. ♥s to all who review!::

Just like a character in any good drama, Neji found that his feelings towards a certain red head were defined in a single moment. Unlike most, he could tell you the exact moment that this definition took place. It had happened on a Wednesday—looking back, Neji felt smug about this since everyone always said that nothing exciting ever happens on Wednesdays.

Shortly after the fifth hour of the day began, Neji had come across him in the stairwell. It was a common occurrence for the Hyuuga to pass someone as he made the trek to his free study period—be it that they were running late or simply that they had a free period as well. Fifth hour held no penalty for his being late, allowing the raven-haired boy to take his time in heading up to the library. It was on that particular Wednesday, however, that Neji couldn’t help but become ensnared by the pale boy with blood red hair and sleep-deprived aqua eyes.

Neji had seen him before, in between classes, though he’d try to pay him little attention. The boy, he had noted, always seemed to be incredibly lonely. Nevertheless, the red head had a vicious streak—often getting into fights against much larger boys and winning, despite his diminutive size. He was quiet, but Neji (and everyone else) knew he became incensed very easily. The one thing Neji never seemed to be able to ascertain was the boy’s name.

The Hyuuga had always felt a twinge at his heart when he saw the boy; he had long since decided that the feeling was that of sympathy. Even in the boy’s fits of ferocity, his eyes held such a deep loneliness that Neji couldn’t help but notice him. That loneliness led Neji to believe that perhaps the boy had been starved for attention, affection; most likely ignored by his family. Neji could empathize, his “parents” had their own children to look after and couldn’t be bothered by another.

Back to the time at hand, it was on that fateful Wednesday that the so-called sympathy became something else. Neji had gotten up the first set of stairs to the landing where the turn for the next set was held when his ears were greeted with the sound of muffled sobbing. He assumed it to be one of the many broken hearted girls shunned by the school’s “most eligible bachelor,” but this assumption was quickly killed as the Hyuuga’s pale eyes met with a splash of crimson.

Small (‘Too small,’ Neji noted) shoulders wracked with sobs, their owner not even noticing the other’s presence as his head was resting against his knees. Neji strode over to him cautiously and placed a gentle hand on one of the tiny shoulders. With a jerk of alarm, tear-filled aqua eyes met with opalescent lavender—the boys eyes were filled with such fear, surprise, and utter dejectedness that the Hyuuga could feel his heart clench. Neji was suddenly filled with such a desire, such a need to protect the smaller boy that it seemed he’d give his whole world to see those tear-filled eyes brighten and that neutral face smile.

Before Neji could even voice a word, the red head had scrambled to his feet and shot off down the stairs, out of sight. Neji stayed as he was, staring after the boy for a moment before checking his watch—2:57. He mentally stored this information before begrudgingly heading to his free study class.

When he had finally seated himself, Neji pulled out his journal from the depths of his school bag. He flipped to a blank page and wrote the date before beginning his latest entry:
At exactly 2:57 p.m. on a Wednesday, I, Hyuuga Neji, fell in love in a stairwell. With a boy who’s name I don’t even know...

::Yes; when I say parents I mean his aunt and uncle, and when I say “bachelor” I mean Sasuke. So, how was it? Not too painful I hope. It’s really hard to write about someone when you can’t say their name the whole time... Hopefully I’ll have chapter two out soon. >.> Leave a review, pretty please! ::
