"I'm so bored... Like, so bored that it's... scary."
Tia's emotionless voice shattered the tense silence clouding over the small bedroom.
"Shut up! You've been saying that same thing for the past frickin' hour!!"
Priscilla spat a response full of bitter hostility before jamming her fingers into a plush pillow and harshly aiming it at Tia.
She swiftly cast the cushion ,just missing her target by mere centimeters.
Tia ignored the assassination attempt and swiveled slightly in her computer chair.
She pushed the mouse across the pad and aimlessly clicked a few times.
Priscilla sighed and fell back against the bed. "I'm bored. You should entertain me."
Tia removed her hands from the mouse and situated them on her lap.
She glanced at Priscilla,"Shouldn't you be amusing me? I thought that was the point of guests?"
Priscilla shrugged and closed her eyes.
Tia yawned.
It was an overcast day and waking 100% seemed impossible for both girls.
Now moving into the evening,it didn't seem plausible either.
Tia raised both her arms over her head and stretched her back, her baggy sleeves pooled around her elbows.
"I have an idea." she said through another yawn.
Springing to life,Tia jumped out of her computer chair and hopped across the room to her deluxe stereo.
"Music?" Priscilla inquired,slitting her eyes.
As if they hadn't listened to every cd she owned about a billion times each.
"Not just any music." Tia said, fingering through a stack of cds.
She popped the disc tray open and slid in a red and yellow striped cd.
Tia flipped her hair playfully,"Nsync!"
Since both girls were young, they had always heavily favored the now extinct boy-band.
With a push of the play button, a techno-esque pop music blared throughout the bedroom.
Priscilla abandoned her own seat now.
The girls unleashed their inner teenagers, with a variety of wannabe dance moves inspired from the currently popular music videos.
Until,a new voice interrupted their party.
"Hey!! Turn that crap off! I'm trying to watch tv!!!"
The music ceased at the anger of the cliche' older brother figure,Tyson.
He ranted on,Priscilla and Tia hearing nothing of it.
They'd barely noticed the musicless void.
Priscilla and Tia continued dancing regardless.
Tyson grew silent, realizing he was talking to himself.
He rolled his eyes, dramatically sighed, and stormed out of the room, slamming the door behind himself.
"Who cares!" Tia mocked.
Priscilla followed with,"And?!"
Tia stopped dancing, now marked with a slight confusion. "And what?"
Priscilla shook her hips and her hair wildly,"And!"
Tia's expression grew grim.
She slumped her shoulders and wheezed in a deep breath.
She found herself bored again for one of the many times tonight.
Priscilla ceased her dancing as well, outstretching an arm she reached for her Pepsi can.
It was opened earlier that day and abandoned shortly after the first sip.
She drew the beverage to her lips and proceeded to chug like no tomorrow.
Tia blinked her lids slowly, watching the way Priscilla's throat sank and rose with each swallow.
"Oh,my gosh... I want that!" Tia loudly exclaimed in a burst of hyper-activity.
She barreled down on Priscilla.
Tia extended both hands into a rough shove as they came into contact with Priscilla's side.
She expertly pulled the Pepsi from Priscilla's grip before it was too late.
Priscilla was cast back.
She tried to catch herself, but stumbled on her own feet instead.
Tripping backwards, she finally let herself go.
Priscilla's feet flew out from underneath her as her butt took the impact of the fall.
She hit the floor hard, laughing uncontrollably.
She was too deep into the sugar-high to notice the pain.
Tia took a swig of the Pepsi.
She frowned immediately.
It was warm and undesirable.
Her grip tightened on the can, earning a 'crinkle' of protest from the aluminum.
In the background, flashing images danced across her muted TV screen.
Priscilla was the first to notice.
"Naruto is on!" She obnoxiously informed Tia.
Tia squinted and turned around to face the TV.
She surveyed her cluttered desktop and spotted the remote.
Tia clicked a finger against the 'mute' button, bringing sound back into the room.
The opening theme of the ever popular show flooded the room, signalling the transformation to TV zombie.
With no words spoken, nothing but extreme focus for the flashing screen,Priscilla and Tia moved closer to the set.
"God,I love this show." Tia suddenly stated as she set the half-empty Pepsi on top of the TV.
Priscilla shifted her eyes from the anime to her friend.
"You shouldn't do that,it will spill." She quickly warned and refocused her eyes back to Naruto.
"Shhh!" Tia snapped and crouched down next to Priscilla.
She crossed her legs, shifting herself around to find a comfortable position.
They watched vehemently as fifteen minutes drifted by.
Suddenly, the episode was cut short as electricity was lost in a flash.
It rendered the girls into a crushed state of mind.
Priscilla's face fell into the palms of her hands.
"No..." she drawled, her words muffled by the cover.
As if the situation hadn't completely registered with her,Tia sparked a conversation with herself. "Why are they playing the first episode again? It's bad enough that I have to watch dubbed... but... the episode previous to this one... wasn't exactly the last episode. Tch... it's stupid scheduling there!"
Priscilla's hands drifted away from her face.
She hadn't heard anything Tia was saying.
Inching across the floor,Priscilla's goal was the window.
Something about this wasn't right.
It just felt...
Her fingers slid along the silky blue curtain fabric momentarily, before she parted the drapes.
A startling discovery...
The houses across the street, the houses to both sides of Tia's own, were all lit brightly.
"....Did you guys forget to pay your power bill or something?" Priscilla remarked, tightening her grip on the curtains.
Tia quizzically raised an eyebrow.
"Everybody else has electricity..." Priscilla droned accusingly.
Tia's arm straightened as she aimed a defensive finger towards her guest. "That bill was paid. I was there! I sacrificed internet time for that!"
As her limb retracted, being pulled back into position at her side, her wrist slammed hard onto the black tv set.
The rough jar toppled the Pepsi can immediately, sending a wave of sticky mess over the media device.
A spark burst within the television.
The light grew, becoming more vibrant as if a supernatural force was feeding it.
It took on a ghastly reddish tone before suddenly vanishing.
Priscilla's skin was virtually colorless.
Had she just seen... that really...?
That was...
Tia's lips were parted slightly in a dumb expression.
"Tv... dead... I killed it!" she screeched, not recognizing her own voice.
The tone was loud, but eerily calm... and that didn't seem an appropriate response to... whatever had just happened.
With an incredulousness in her voice,Priscilla now pointed a finger at Tia.
"What the heck?! That's the only thing you noticed?! No electricity! Spark?! Red!!!? Demons!!"
"Demon possessed? Tv?"
Tia snickered at this idea.
To her,it sounded like some horrible fan-fiction plot.
So stupid.
Seriously.
Priscilla fisted her hands.
How could Tia just laugh this off?
"I'm going to find your parents." Priscilla muttered softly, yet unmistakably bitter.
She crossed the room and disappeared through the doorway.
Leaving Tia to be alone,in the darkness of her bedroom, battling with some thoughts--or severe lack of.
She listened to Priscilla call out her parents' names.
Silence following.
That lack of response impressed worry upon both of the girls.
Tia paced to her bedroom door.
Her hands gripped the door pane as she craned her neck to peer into the empty hall.
"Mom?" her voice cracked.
A bit more bold. "Dad?"
Nothing.
She listened to Priscilla's footsteps trot across the living room.
Desperate of all desperate,Tia shouted.
"Tyson?!"
Without warning, all the lights in the house flashed back to life, confirming their greatest suspicions.
Everyone was gone.
Panic surged through Tia's veins.
She didn't like this... her family being... missing...
Her feet carried her aimlessly back and forth.
Into her room.
Out into the hallway.
Back to the bedroom.
"...Maybe it's a prank?" Priscilla's falsely-hopeful voice suggested from the living room couch.
"My parents wouldn't do that!" Tia overdefensively snapped.
She huffed her chest out and began an angry march down the hallway and into the living room.
Priscilla cautiously eyed Tia.
Tia's face was tinted red, she appeared extremely flustered, and that could only mean bad news on Priscilla's side of things.
Tia shot both her hands out,all her fingers sinking desperately into Priscilla's own arm.
Tia roughly jerked Priscilla into a standing position, not waiting for protest, she hauled the girl back to her bedroom.
They had things that needed to be done.
They had to plot.
Make a plan.
Scheme something?
Anything?
Once in the solitude of Tia's bedroom,Priscilla did finally pull herself free.
She slightly distanced herself from Tia.
Priscilla quickly looked over the room, she needed something to do.
Something normal.
Something to lessen the awkward horror of this whole situation.
Spying the slight nub protruding from the doorknob,Priscilla switched into security mode.
She moved to the door and took precaution.
She shut the door and quickly turned the lock.
Nobody getting in.
Nobody getting out.
That was safety right there.
Priscilla smirked.
She was obviously pleased with herself.
In her own mind, she had just saved the day.
Tia would feel better.
Heck,Priscilla already felt better.
This was good stuff.
As Priscilla turned around to meet Tia,she froze at the sight.
Tia looked almost robotic.
Her gaze was so focused, yet so blank.
"...What's wrong?" Priscilla asked.
Her whole secure feeling was thrown into chaos.
Rarely had she ever seen Tia look so...
Priscilla's eyes followed Tia's stare, only bringing terror when they found what they were searching for.
The normally black screen of the television was glowing a brilliant red.
A red much similar to the awkward spark from before.
Such a pure red.
Haunting red.
Tia sharply gasped.
Although she'd been watching this scene for a lot longer than Priscilla, it just seemed to click.
How could she have laughed before?
It was true!
It was all true!
"My TV is demon possessed!!!" Tia shrieked.
Her whole body was trembling.
Her hands clenched tightly, her fingernails digging into the palms.
Then she was off.
Tia made a run for the door, totally oblivious to Priscilla's previous locking.
She clawed desperately at the knob, grabbing it once, then losing the grip.
She molded both her hands to the doorknob and jingled it maniacally.
"It won't open! Why won't it open!?" Tia dramatically cried.
This room.
This room was smothering her!
Priscilla remained silent.
Frozen.
Statuesque.
"I'm." Priscilla softly whispered.
Her voice raised a bit. "I'm going home."
It sounded calm, but also very stoic, considering the situation.
Priscilla did a 180,putting her back to the television, she calmly paced to the bedroom door.
Putting her body in between the frantic woman and the wooden barrier,Priscilla flicked the switch and unlocked the door.
As simply as that, her resolution was immediately lost.
Fear swept over, and Priscilla became something similar to Tia.
Both girls had at the knob.
Slender hands and polished nails flew out of nowhere, all grasping for the same thing.
Unable to withstand the force, the knob simply dropped off, albeit into Tia's hand.
They stilled.
Tia panted and eyed this object in her grasp.
Recognizing it,justice had to be dealt.
"Priscilla!!! You idiot! What have you done?!"
Priscilla exploded.
Oh,no.
She was just not accused of...
"Why am I the idiot?! You're the one holding the knob!" she lashed out.
The squabbling ended almost as quickly as it began.
The television.
The red.
It all died within that moment, bringing forth silence in the room.
The knob fell from Tia's hand, landing with a soft 'pat' against the carpet.
Unable to control themselves, both girls drifted towards the television set.
With wide eyes and curious hands, they circled the black box.
In awe of how harmless it really seemed now.
So lifeless.
Tia knelt down close to it.
Her eyes traced over every feature.
"...Only two dollars... for such a nice TV..." Tia mumbled.
She laughed for a second.
Then mumbled some more. "I thought they were out of their minds... even for a garage sale... Two dollars?"
One hand slid along the plastic surface.
Down the side.
Tia effortlessly pulled the plug from the wall socket.
She laughed again, although something dug at the back of her mind.
Something that relentlessly screamed knowledge of how she may have just sold her soul for two dollars and a television set.
A used television set.
Priscilla fidgeted nervously.
She paced in a circle.
Twitched her fingers and ran her hands over one another.
"I see how it is." Priscilla spoke in an eery sing-song voice. "You buy a cursed TV from some crazy garage salers. Because... that happens all the time. Really. All the time."
Tia raised an eyebrow.
She quickly pushed away thoughts about how Priscilla was off-her-rocker.
After all... if Priscilla was crazy... so was she.
"Wham!!" Priscilla exclaimed so profusely,it startled Tia into flinching.
"You're so freaking cheap! And we're dead! Two dollars?! Doooooom!!" Priscilla ranted.
A few hot tears welled in the corner of Tia's eyes.
She just could not take the stress of this.
"...Well...... that's... maybe it was just... you know... a thing broke... and... the tv... red--"
"Doom,I say!"

The flood gates opened and Tia burst into tears.
She immediately brought her hands to her face and sobbed.
"I-I am ch-cheap!!" she stuttered painfully.
Priscilla stopped pacing to stare at Tia.
She felt a twinge of guilt, but the anger... the fear quickly masked that.
"I-I am cheap! And... I-I ne-ver have any mo-money!" Tia pathetically wailed. "Whe-where does it all go?!"
Priscilla furrowed her eyebrows.
This was just troubling.
How to deal?
What to do?
"I'm going to bed." Priscilla emotionlessly decided.
Mechanically, she stepped over to Tia's bed.
Pulled back the dark covers.
Crawled onto the mattress.
Adjusted herself.
Returned the covers to their natural place.
Shifted around a bit.
Fluffed the pillow.
Rolled over onto her stomach.
Melted into motionlessness.
"You c-can't sleep!!" Tia cried.
She wiped away the mixture of mascara, tears, and saliva onto her sleeve.
"Why!?!" Priscilla growled ferociously.
Her face was buried into Tia's pillow, adding a grittiness to her question.
"Because!!" Tia sniffled.
Her voice high and whiny. "I can't sleep!!"
Priscilla did not respond to this.
She could not respond to this.
She was seething, and she liked it that way.
If she wasn't so angry, she'd probably be crying too.
What use is two crying morons?
Tia scooted backwards, until she came to rest against the wall.
She pulled her knees up into her chest, curling herself into a ball.
Everything became really quiet again.
Just random spouts of sniffling from Tia.
Priscilla's eyes burned with a certain heaviness.
The silence was doing nothing but lolling her off to unconsciousness.
Hope was nonexistant anyway, what else to do but nap?
Priscilla succumbed to sleep.
Two hours drifted by,leaving Tia to sit and listen to her best friend's rhythmic snoring.
Her own eyes closed.
Given the time to calm down, a slightly peaceful aura had replaced the previous disarray.
But, tragedy seemed to be the triumph of the day.
Tearing away the serenity, the television set sparked to life once again.
Priscilla's eyes opened quickly.
She sat up in bed, having a perfect view of the horror.
Tia raised her head.
The wall she sat against only gave her a side shot of the tv,but unmistakably, she knew.
This time, what appeared on the screen was different.
It was more frightening than anything previous...
More awkward...
More... random...
It was...
