Chapter notes: With school and my busy schedule, this may not be finished for a while.
Kabuto Yakushi was used to being awakened from even the deepest sleep at ungodly hours of the morning, so it came as no surprise when Orochimaru, his "Master," better known as his adoptive father, dragged him out of bed at three a.m. on one particularly cold December morning, threatening him with yet another beating for his alleged disobedience.

"What did I do this time, Master?" he asked in the forced monotone he saved only for Orochimaru. He winced at the word "Master." He hadn't been allowed to call Orochimaru anything other than that since he was four.
"Shut up, you insolant brat," Orochimaru hissed, delivering a well-placed slap to the boy's cheek, "You know exactly what you did."

Trying to ignore the stinging in his cheek, Kabuto only nodded, refusing to look into Orochimaru's cold, cruel, yellow eyes. He forced himself not to cry, knowing crying would only result in more pain. "Yes, Master," he said, barely above a whisper.

Orochimaru grabbed his young, silver-haired "servant" by the ponytail, forcing him to the ground. Kabuto whimpered softly as his head struck the ground, making him dizzy. When the room appeared to stop spinning, he felt pressure on his left wrist. There was a sickening crack and a scream of pain from Kabuto as Orochimaru stepped down, shattering to boy's wrist.

With that simple motion and a hissed, "If you even think about healing yourself, I will kill you," Orochimaru turned and left the room. When his footsteps were far enough away, Kabuto forced himself into a sitting position, his eyes stinging with tears that refused to fall as he hissed in pain, forcing himself to put weight on his injured wrist.

Using the last of his strength, he forced himself to stand up and crawl back into bed, grabbing his phone from his bedside table, all while gently cradling his injured arm to his chest. The tears finally began streaming down his face he dialed the number.

~the following is the conversation between Kabuto Yakushi and Anjii Uchiha~
Anjii: Hey, Kabuto.
Kabuto: H-hey, Anjii.
Anjii: *in a worried tone* What's wrong Kabuto?
Kabuto: I-it's about Orochimaru. H-he just broke my wrist and he said he'll kill me if I try to heal myself.
Anjii: *in the same worried tone* How bad is it?
Kabuto: I don't know, but I can barely move without my whole arm hurting, so I'd say it's more or less shattered.
Anjii: Ouch. Do you think you'll be able to make it to school later?
Kabuto: He's made me go to school with a 102 degree temperature, so I probably have no choice.
Anjii: This is true. Well, maybe you'll catch a break and we won't have gym today.
Kabuto: Hopefully. I just hope the nurse doesn't send me home.
Anjii: Yeah. Well, I gotta go, so I guess I'll see you in a few hours.
Kabuto: Yeah, I guess.
both: Bye. *hang up*
Kabuto sighed and pulled his covers back over his head. Eventually, he fell into a fitful sleep, his nightmares, as usual, filled with snakes with cold, yellow eyes. When he awoke, he instinctively covered his face with his arms, regretting it almost instantly as a searing pain shot through his left arm. He hissed in pain, but continued with his morning routine, keeping his wrist gently cradled to his chest throughout the entire ordeal.
Chapter end notes: I hate doing this to Kabuto, but it works with another fanfiction I wrote that may or may not end up on this site. Reviews are apreciated.
