It was the last party of the summer, scheduled on the last Saturday before school started on Monday. The party of the century, and Kiba Inuzuka was invited. Not that he would never had been invited.

Just as Kiba slipped on his best pair of pants, his phone rang, emitting sound waves from his bedroom night stand to his restroom.

Who could be calling me right now? He asked himself as he hopped over his bed, reaching for the phone.

“Yeah?” He asked triumphantly, having reached the phone in time.

“Hey Kiba!” his energetic friend Naruto replied on the other line “Are you going to Sakura’s party?”

“You bet!” he replied cockily “Are you?”

“Yeah. Sakura actually invited me this year.” he replied quietly.

“You don’t sound too happy about that Naruto.” Kiba voiced.

“I just don’t want to be her rebound from Sasuke, but I feel like that’s the only reason why she invited me.”

“And? You should be happy either way. Besides, I’m sure Sasuke’s not even going.

“Ino invited him.” Naruto corrected.

Kiba grew silent, scrambling for what he should say next. “That shouldn’t matter to you. Just go have fun.”

Naruto went silent.

“Still there?” Kiba asked after a few minutes of pure silence.

“Noa is going to be there.” Naruto mumbled happily.

Kiba tensed slightly at the mention of her name. “And? Why would that matter to me?”

“You know exactly why Kiba.” Naruto teased.

“You’re an idiot, you know that right?”

“Yeah yeah yeah. Anyways, want to head over there together? I don’t feel like driving myself.”

Kiba sighed loudly. “You never feel like driving yourself, but sure Naruto.”

“-ttebayo! Call me when you’re here!” He exclaimed before hanging up.

“Yeah, bye to you too Naruto.” Kiba mumbled to himself, placing his phone back onto the night stand.

He slowly walked over to the mirror that leaned against his wall near the door.

It doesn’t matter to me at all. Kiba thought to himself. Naruto’s just being stupid as usual.

Kiba walked back over to the nightstand, grabbed his phone and set of keys and slipped through his bed room door towards the stairs.

In an instant, Kiba was down the stairs, just about to unlock the door.

“Oh Kiba.” a familiar voice taunted from behind him. “Where are you going?”

“I already told you Hana.” Kiba sighed. “Sakura’s party.” he added opening the front door.

“Have fun with Noa.” she smirked before closing the door behind him.

Kiba glared at the closed door, hoping his older sister could feel the mental daggers. I do not like Noa. He claimed mentally as he hopped into his car. Not that I know of at least.

______

Having done it many many times before, Kiba easily arrived to Naruto’s lone apartment.

HONK HONK

That’s all I’m doing became I’m not getting out this car. Kiba thought to himself as he stared at Naruto’s front door.

After a few more moments, Naruto emerged from his home sprinting down the stairs with excitement.

“Hey Kiba!” Naruto greeted as he slid into his passenger seat.

“I can’t believe you clean up that nicely.” Kiba joked.

“Shut up bastard.” Naruto pouted. “Do you think the party will be any good?”

Kiba went into thought as he pulled out of Naruto’s driveway. “I think so. A lot of people are expecting it to be.”

Naruto simply shrugged his shoulders as he watched all the buildings they passed.

It is Sakura’s party after all.

______

Kiba and Naruto finally arrived at the Haruno residence.

“A lot of people are already here.” Naruto commented, looking at all the people walking in and out the house.

“That just means it’ll be even more fun! Let’s go Naruto!” Kiba said enthusiastically, jumping out his car.

As Naruto and Kiba entered the house, they couldn’t help but notice the amount of people were there.

“Geez.” Kiba whispered “The whole second-year class must be here.”

“Most likely. Hey, there’s Sakura!” he exclaimed, pointing towards the pink head in the corner. “Should I talk to her?” Naruto asked timidly.

“Duh!” Kiba responded, shoving him in her direction.

“Bastard.” Naruto growled before walking towards Sakura.

Yeah, you’ll thank me later. Kiba thought to himself, walking in deeper to the chaos of the party.

“Oy! Kiba!” a familiar voice called from behind him.

Kiba turned around, trying to look over the numerous heads of random people. “Oh, Hey Shikamaru!” he called back as loud as he could.

Shikamaru simply signaled him over to the small group he was surrounded by.

Kiba squeezed his way through several different people, stepping on several toes, hearing several groans of pain.

It’s not my fault this place is so packed. He thought to himself as he neared his friends.

“Hey Shikamaru, Shino, Choji, Sai.” he greeted over the blaring music. “Enjoying the party?”

“Not exactly. There’s a lot of people, but it’s pretty boring.” Shikamaru replied lazily.

“I guess that much is expected though.” Kiba agreed, looking at the people that surrounded him so smugly. “Who are these people anyways?”

“Third years.” Shino replied calmly. “Most of them don’t even go to Konoha Gakuen.”

“Then what are they doing here?”

“People say that the girls are here to see Sasuke, Itachi or Nobuo, there’s many rumors going around that they’re all going to be here. Then majority of the boys are here just to see Noa. That’s not all that surprising to me though.” Sai answered.

“Nobuo is Noa’s older brother right? The one on the wrestling team?”

Shikamaru smirked. “Why? Need more incentive to stay away from her?”

“I never said I wanted to be around her Shikamaru!” Kiba retorted defensively.

“Then why are you getting so defensive?” Shino asked quietly.

Kiba growled in frustration. “All of you are so annoying.”

The group chuckled at his frustration.

“It’s obvious that you admire her in some way Kiba.” Sai said. “Even an idiot like Naruto can figure it out.”

“When have I ever said I liked her?!”

“You don’t have to say it, your reaction is projecting it clearly.” Choji voiced.

I didn’t think I’d be that obvious. Kiba thought to himself.

“They Endos here!” a voice announced from the living room.

“Now the party can really start!”

Endos? Noa Endo?

“Hey Kiba, now’s your chance to confess your love.” Shikamaru teased while pointing at two figures in the door way.

Ignoring his comment, Kiba scanned his way over to the doorway before laying his eyes on the two most popular people other than the Uchihas.

“Noa.” he whispered aloud as he watched her great several people that approached her.

Snapping out of his trance, he turned back around to his comrades. “She doesn’t matter to me.” he stated firmly.

“Are you telling us that or yourself?” Sai asked, evoking Kiba to go into deep thought.

I’m telling you guys…I’m sure of it. he thought to himself. …aren’t I?
