The twins walked through Konoha village, feeling all eyes on them. Whispers swirled around. People stared, most with curiousity, some with wonder. One person in the crowd glared with resentment. The girl looked straight at him and in that moment, he knew she knew him. He scowled, then replaced his anbu mask and left.
"What are you looking at, Amaya?" the boy asked his sister, brushing his white-blonde hair out of his eyes.
The girl looked at her twin brother. She flipped her long, shiny white-blonde hair back. "Oh, nothing, Akihiko. Just looking."
Her brother frowned, but said nothing. The two continued walking until they reached the Hokage's office. They were brought in immediately.
Once inside, Amaya's eyes quickly found the Hokage's son's. He was cute, that's for sure; sea green eyes, spiky blonde hair. He smiled, then brushed past her and left.
"Lord Hokage. We've come to speak to you." Akihiko said, drawing his sister's attention away from the Hokage's son.
"I see. What can I do for you?" the Hokage said. He was famous throughout the lands as the man who had, for the most part, single-handedly brought down the akatsuki. Naruto Uzamaki was famous even to Akihiko and Amaya.
Amaya spoke up. "I'm sure you've heard rumors about our arrival."
Hokage Naruto nodded. "I have. You claim to be the children of Mai and Daisuke Atsumiki."
"It's not a claim, it's the truth!" Amaya nearly shouted.
Akihiko grabbed her arm, calming her. "What my brash sister meant to say was, we aren't claiming anything. We are Mai and Daisuke's children. We were hidden away in a remote village for our own protection. What we were protected from is what we don't know."
The Hokage stood. "You expect me to believe this why? Mai and Daisuke killed themselves sixteen years ago. They never had children. And if they did, why hide it?"
Amaya, frustrated, turned around and lifted her shirt. On her back was a blackish-green image of raven wings. It looked like a tattoo, but Naruto knew the mark far too well to believe that. He gasped.
"I have it too." Akihiko said as Amaya pulled her shirt down and turned around.
"You...you really are..."
Akihiko nodded. "Yes. We are."
"When our mother found out she was pregnant, she told you her great-aunt was dying. She went away for over a year, remember?" Amaya said.
Naruto nodded. "Yes, but...but she would've told me."
"Would she?" Akihiko asked. "They married in secret. There was obviously a reason for them never mentioning us."
Unbeknownst to the trio, someone was standing outside the door, listening in. The man scowled angrily. He placed his anbu mask back on and walked away, anger burning hot beneath his skin. How dare they make impossible claims! he thought as he stalked down the street, a horrid plan forming in his head.
